Exporting XML: ObjectPAL etc

• XML exports offer the widest choice of options, due to the format typicaly being under the control of the exporting program:
• ObjectPAL can be used
  • Either to generate XML "by hand" with TextStream functions
  • Or using the XML property on a DOM instance ready for exporting, possibly after an XSL transform.
  • Or, for the adventurous few, using Paradox Server Pages, an experimental Paradox scripting solution for the web allowing ObjectPAL in Web pages
• Scripting using another engine from Paradox :
  • Python, using Ponx (a product of MCI)
• Accessing Paradox tables from an outer language:
  • PHP (Clairinfo has experience on this)
  • Delphi / C++ : BDE, external modules (ObjectPAL AddInForm)
  • dBase Plus or just any other tool if the .DBF ISAM format native to the BDE has been used instead of the Paradox native .DB format: most programming tools can access dBase tables.
  • Just about any development tool is the data processed by Paradox during the integration stage have been stored in an SQL database: an ever growing number of DBMSes provide options to return XML result sets.
